Really?!?
Really, though of course we can if you want to. Nothing is off the table, but it’s not in my practice to say what the “right” things to talk about are. My goal is to make the space as comfortable as possible so when you do feel ready to talk about the really hard stuff, it feels safe enough to do so.Will you offer a first-session free?
I can’t offer free first sessions but I can make sure our consultation call before we meet takes time to answer your questions.
What’s up with this “consultation call” you speak of?
I offer all potential clients a free, 30 minute consultation call to learn about each other. This is really a chance for you to get a sense of how talking to me feels and I really encourage you to work with someone it feels like a good fit with. If that’s not me, I will happily provide you with referrals to others.
Do you offer therapy in Spanish? Conductes psicoterapia en español?
Si, ofrezco terapia en español y inglés.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Pretty standard for the field. I ask that people let me know 24 hours ahead of time and try my best to be as flexible as possible for rescheduling. If you let me know less than 24 hours and we’re able to reschedule there is no charge. If rescheduling is not possible the session fee will be applied.
Do you accept insurance?
I currently do not, but can provide superbills clients can submit to their insurance company for potential reimbursement.
What do the letters after your name mean?
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (Lic. # 157678) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (Lic. # 20407). They mean I earned a Masters in Clinical Psychology, completed a certain number of training hours, didn’t make any major errors in my paperwork to the BBS (Board of Behavioral Sciences) and work under the supervision of a wonderful therapist, Debra Brunsten, LMFT (Lic. # 34322).
What is your sign?
Given that we’re in Los Angeles and I believe in transparency, I am (despite whatever recent NYT articles say) known to be a Libra. I have done the chart but alas, do not remember the risings or moons or other stuff.
Is Scotty your legal name?
Unfortunately no, that’s just what the nurse said when I came into the world and though the ‘y’ never made it on the birth certificate, I have never gone or been known to be without it.
